This is not a feather flag
Worth being clear about, because the two get confused. A feather flag is a self-contained kit — graphic, pole and base — that you put out in the morning and bring in at night. A pole flag is a flag: a printed panel with finished edges that hangs from a pole, a wall bracket or a horizontal arm, and generally stays there.
Because it is made to your dimensions rather than a fixed kit size, it is the right product when you are working to something that already exists — an existing flagpole, a bracket on a building, a run of light poles, a set of arms along a frontage. Give us the size and we will make the flag fit.
Finishing is the decision that matters
Get this wrong and the flag cannot be hung. It is the first thing we will ask you about.

The simple test: if the flag will flap outward from a vertical pole, you want the left edge. If it will hang down from something above it, you want the top.
Single or double sided
A single-sided flag is printed once, and the reverse shows the same artwork in mirror image through the fabric. That is fine for a logo or a symbol, and it is what most flags are.
It is not fine for text that has to read correctly from both approaches. On a flag beside a two-way road, or one on a building corner seen from two streets, double sided is the difference between being read once and being read twice. Double sided is two printed layers rather than one, and the price reflects that.

Questions we get asked
Measure what you are hanging it from rather than guessing at a standard. If it is an existing pole, the conventional ratio is roughly 2:3 — a 3 ft x 5 ft flag on a 20 ft pole looks right, and much smaller looks lost. If it is a bracket or an arm, measure the arm.
Bring it in or send us photographs with a tape measure in shot. Matching an existing flag in a run is a common request and it is far easier with the original in front of us.
Less than on a sign. A flag moves, folds and is usually read at distance. A logo and a few words works; a paragraph does not. Keep artwork away from the outer flying edge, which takes the most wear.
Often, for anything permanent. Cities across North Dallas treat flags and pole banners differently from temporary signage, and retail landlords usually have their own standards. Check before ordering a run.
