Two letter pages, side by side
An 11" x 17" sheet is exactly two letter pages next to each other. That is why it is the working size for anything wide: draft floor plans and site plans for review, spreadsheets that will not fit across a letter page, Gantt charts, seating plans, schedules pinned to a wall.
Folded in half, a tabloid sheet becomes a letter-size four-page piece, which is how a lot of newsletters and event programs start life.

Keeping fine lines sharp
Drawings and small type hold up best when the PDF is exported straight from the design program as vector, not as a screenshot or a photo of the screen. Thin lines stay crisp and text stays readable at small sizes.
Need it bigger than 11" x 17"? Construction sets belong on blueprints, at 18" x 24", 24" x 36" or 36" x 48".

No. For color at this size use 11 x 17 color copies.
What paper is best for a sheet that gets folded?
24 lb or 32 lb. The card weights are better left flat.
